Great News

My Uncle Duff and Grandma have both been released from the hospital. They are on their way to recovery! My Grandma was released earlier this week and my uncle was released this morning. Thank you for your prayers!

Continued Prayers

My Uncle Duff isn't doing any better. They think he has autoimmune disease - (which arises from an overactive immune response of the body against substances and tissues normally present in the body. In other words, the body attacks its own cells). He's having trouble breathing so they put him on oxygen. Pray that the doctors will speed up the process of deciding how to treat him. It seems like they are taking their time doing so.

Also, my Grandma has been hospitalized in Mississippi as of Friday. It seems that she has a stomach ulcer but not sure. Pray for a fast recovery.

And on to my Mom - she's had to endure losing her father in November and now the troubles of her brother in the hospital as well as her mother. I hope that God will grant her strength as she tries to hold as much of this together as she can. She is either traveling to Knoxville or Mississippi this week. Please keep her in your prayers as well.

Prayer Request

My Uncle Duff is back in the Knoxville hospital again. He was first put in last month thinking he had a severe case of pneumonia. Well he's back again and the doctors aren't quite sure what the problem is. Apparently full use of his lungs is nonexistent. Please pray for him in hopes that the doctors find out how to cure him. Pray for his wife (Aunt Lorna) that God will give her the strength and comfort. And lastly, please pray for my Grandma. Her husband (My Grandpa) just passed away in November and I'm scared that this stuff with my Uncle Duff being in the hospital might send her in a downward spiral.

I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

OLD SCHOOL

So I was cleaning out some shelves in my room and came across a box with some old pictures. I couldn't help but smile at remembering some fun times in high school. Why so many cheerleading pictures? Ask any former OHS cheerleader - it pretty much consumed our lives back then and about all the pictures that I have were with cheerleading!

Here's my sweet pea!

Dave took this picture last Sunday after my shower. I'm not sure about the face I'm making. . . Not much has changed since last week. Alexa loves to move around all the time! I definitely think she likes to dance, too. Whenever a fast song with a heavy beat comes on the radio, she starts going to town. It's too funny.

Congrats to my brother in law and wife. . . .

My brother in law, John and his wife, Michelle found out yesterday that they are having a girl, too! I'm so excited!! This means that Alexa and her cousin will only be 3 months apart! Talk about trouble. I think this is so awesome and I couldn't be happier for the two of them. So congratulations to John and Michelle - that little girl is going to be super cute!

My sweet pea!!!

It seems like today was a better day. I got my hair highlighted this morning - I'm blonde again! Then Dave and I went for the ultrasound. My sweet baby cakes weighs 3 lbs, 15 oz.! The doctor said that is a perfect weight for where I am in the pregnancy. He actually said Alexa was a slight bit above average in her weight.

We got to see her cute, little face. She kept moving her lips as if she were talking. I can't wait to meet her!!!

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. . ..

Ok - I'm in one of my moods where I feel the need to vent.

Every since I've been pregnant, so many women have been rude and ugly to me. It seems like just because you're a mother and that you know better than I do, you think you're entitled to say whatever you want without thinking it will hurt my feelings. Maybe I'm extra sensitive. But some of the comments I've gotten are down right rude. I'd be offended not being pregnant. Here is what some of the comments have been:

  • "Gosh Becca, you're so tiny. Are you sure the baby is ok?" Most women would want to be called tiny, but not when there's a negative jab at the wellness of your baby.

  • "You're so small, you need to eat more to make sure Alexa is getting enough food." Like I don't eat. I just don't really eat a lot more than I did when I wasn't pregnant. I'm not really any more hungry than before.

  • Here's my favorite: "You're far enough along to where if something were to happen to the baby, it would probably still live." Yes, someone really did say that to me. Word for word. ?????????????????? What in the world do I say to that? Thanks?

All these comments are coming from ladies that have had multiple kids. Do they not remember how it felt to be pregnant? Would they want someone telling them that? NO! It seems like either you're too small and something is wrong with the baby or you're too big and you look like you're having twins. What happened to just saying, "Becca you look great" - even if I don't. Humor me at least. And for the record, I do have a belly.

Just to clarify - I went to the doctor today for my regular check up and everything is fine. Alexa is perfectly fine and on track with her weight as well as mine. My doctor was very appalled at the comments. Since I won't have any more ultrasounds, he made up a reason. He said that I didn't need one but if it would ease my mind, he'd set one up for tomorrow just to prove to those women that I'm fine and so is Alexa. Got to love him for that!

Ok - I'm done! Just had to get that off my chest. :-) Hopefully God will give me the strength to let comments like that roll off my back.

A baby shower given by great friends!

Yesterday I was given a baby shower by my former coworkers that I thankfully met while working for Beazer Homes. These girls were coworkers who very quickly became great friends! Even though I left Beazer in 2006 (and others have left as well), we all still keep in touch and make sure to meet for lunch about once a month or so - rain or shine, kids or no kids. I am so blessed to have these ladies in my life! They are truly wonderful. Thank you for all the wonderful goodies from everyone! I had a wonderful time! And Cristi, the cake was not only super adorable, but oh-so YUMMY!

Here goes. . . .

So I'm new at this whole blog thing but very determined to figure this out. I figured this is the best way for family and friends to keep up with what's going on with Dave and me - especially since Alexa will be arriving in about 8 weeks or so. I'm going to try to go to sleep and will tackle this more tomorrow! Good night!
