Soggy weekend at the Lake

Memorial Day weekend turned out to be a very cloudy, rainy weekend - something we had hoped would blow over, especially since it was Lexie's first Lake Martin experience. Thank goodness my Dad had installed TVs with cable. Not sure what we would have done for 4 days otherwise. Friday wasn't too bad - meaning it wasn't pouring rain. It was just really windy. Taking Lexie outside, we found out one of her loves. . . . WIND! She absolutely loves it. It's cute how she will close her eyes as if she were letting the wind blow through her hair. The entire weekend when she'd start to get fussy, I'd take her outside and some how the wind would calm her. She also loves the hair dryer!

We had some dear friends (Blake and Nicki) come up on Saturday to join us during the soggy weekend. Since there was nothing to do, we sat on the porch all day and became nosy neighbors. The cabin directly across the slue from us had a boat tied to their dock. It wouldn't be strange except that it was completely upside down and sinking. This isn't a little row boat I'm talking about. This was a nice boat - at least a 25 footer. So from Saturday morning to late Saturday afternoon, we all watched this dock company pull their barge in and try to lift this boat upright with their crane. It was quite the entertainment for that wet day.

The guys that were trying to get the boat out asked if they could use my boat ramp to pull the almost sunken boat out of the water. When they came over, we asked how this happened and they had no clue. Still a mystery!
Here are some pictures from my phone.
See the white part of the boat - that's the bottom of the boat!

They were able to pump out the water and tow it out. Thanks for the entertainment Lake Martin Dock co.!

Here is a picture of sweet pea. . . .

And we got this precious onesie in the mail from one of Dave's college buddies! It's Lexie's first republican attire! Many more to come!!! :-) By the way, it'll be the only elephant that she'll be allowed to sport around! No Bama elephants allowed!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

I've always said that I wanted to be like my Mom when I had kids. My Mama was the first to influence me on what kind of mother I wanted to be or hoped to be and prayed to be. She is a living example of strength, courage, and love. She taught me to be strong, encouraged me when I needed encouragement, gave me comfort when I needed comforting, and taught me to persevere through any hardship. She sacrificed so much of her wantings to give me and my brother a wonderful childhood. From her, I knew exactly what kind of mother I wanted my baby girl to have. I only hope that I'm as good as a mother to my sweet angel as my Mom was to me! I love you, Mama!
Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!

Happy 3 Years!!!

This day three ago, I married the most amazing man and father God could create! May 6, 2006 was the most perfect day! I couldn't have dreamed a more perfect wedding day. There is not one thing that I would change (except wanting to do it all over again!) Everyone asks me what my favorite part of the day was. I have to say that when the church doors opened and I saw Dave at the end of the isle, I was ecstatic! This gorgeous guy at the altar was going to be my husband!! :-) Wahoo!
Dave has been my ROCK since day one. I've gone through a lot of hard trials since I've met him and he has always been there for me. He gave me strength, encouragement, and unfailing love. He knew me for all of my flaws and still married me! :-) Ha! God has truly blessed me for putting him in my life! I love you, baby! Happy Anniversary! I miss you and look forward to you getting home from Dallas!
I also have to give credit to my sweet friend, Laura and her husband, Kevin. If it weren't for them playing cupid, I wouldn't have met this wonderful husband and father! So thanks La and Kevin! I love you guys!
One last thing -yes, I'm a big cheese ball - I've always loved this poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. What a perfect day to post it! :-)
Align CenterHow do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
